Lumber: Board Foot (See Glossary below). Board Foot equals 1" inch thick by 12" inches wide x 12" inches long. Example Board 2" thick by 12" inches wide x 12 feet long would have (12 x 144 x 2)/144 = 24 board feet.
Burl: by weight (the pound). note usually there is 1 board foot for every four pounds of lumber.

Freight Trucks These companies can ship any size order. However small orders in most cases are unpractical to ship ground freight due to high shipping costs. The per board foot price drop significantly after 200, 500, 1200 and 2500 board feet. The more you buy the lower the shipping cost per board foot. For exmaple to ship 200 board feet the cost to ship this material per board foot is twice as much as the shipping cost per board foot for 500 board feet.
These companies are tractor trail based companies that deliver to almost anywhere in the US. Please note these companies charge surcharges for material over 12 feet long and charge to ship to residential addresses. Material shipped to the East Coast of USA should take 3-6 business days and to the West Coast of the USA 3 to 6 business days.
